Serving Tempe

Roll-off dumpsters delivered to Tempe

Tempe is its own incorporated city (tempe.gov) south of Scottsdale, built around Arizona State University and Tempe Town Lake, with a dense mix of student rentals, older mid-century neighborhoods and newer high-rise development downtown. It's a longer haul south from our yard, and we deliver regularly for rental-property turnovers, remodels and commercial jobs.

Streets around ASU and Mill Ave carry heavy student and rental turnover, which means a lot of our Tempe work is fast-timeline cleanouts between leases, alongside older single-family neighborhoods east of the university and newer condo towers near the lake. Tempe's dense grid and tighter urban lots mean container placement and street parking need more planning than a typical Scottsdale driveway job.

Local rules

Placement and permits in Tempe

On private property — a driveway, a courtyard, a job site — you will not normally need a permit anywhere in Maricopa County, and that covers the large majority of our Tempe deliveries. What matters far more is whether the surface can take the weight and whether the truck can physically get in.

If the container has to sit on a public street or right-of-way in Tempe, that usually changes. Check with City of Tempe before you book, and expect requirements around reflectors, barricades or overnight lighting. Maricopa County handles matters outside city and town limits. Rules genuinely differ from one municipality to the next around here, so please do not rely on what a neighbor in another town was told.

A few practical things that come up repeatedly in Tempe:

  • HOA and master-planned community rules. A lot of Tempe sits inside HOA-governed communities with their own container placement, screening and time-limit rules on top of whatever the town allows. Check your HOA's CC&Rs before booking, and tell us if the container needs to stay tucked out of street view — we can usually place tight to a garage or side yard.
  • Monsoon season (roughly June through September). Arizona's summer monsoon brings sudden thunderstorms, haboob dust storms and flash flooding, sometimes with very little warning. A container placed in a wash, a low spot or anywhere water pools can become a hazard fast. We watch the forecast and will reschedule placement around a storm cell rather than fight it.
  • Extreme summer heat. Once daytime highs push past 110°F, we shift delivery and pickup windows to early morning both for our crews' safety and so the container isn't sitting in direct sun with a full asphalt driveway underneath it all afternoon. Let us know if your job has any flexibility on timing in July and August.
  • Desert landscaping debris. Xeriscape teardowns and re-landscapes generate their own kind of load — decomposed granite, dead cactus and agave, pavers and edging — that is heavier and bulkier per yard than typical yard waste. Tell us what's coming out and we will size the container accordingly rather than guess.
  • Gate codes and access. Several of Tempe's communities are gated or have guard-staffed entries. Have a code or a call-ahead arranged with the gatehouse so our driver isn't stuck waiting at the entrance on delivery day.

Our permit and placement guide goes into more depth on placement rules across the Valley.

Answers

Dumpster rental in Tempe — common questions

Can you handle a fast rental-turnover cleanout in Tempe?

Yes -- quick-turnaround rental and student-housing cleanouts are regular work for us here. Tell us your lease deadline and we'll build the delivery and pickup schedule around it.

Can a container fit on a tight Tempe street or apartment lot?

In most cases, yes -- tell us about street parking, alley access or a shared lot and we'll size and place the container to fit without blocking anyone else.

Is a permit needed for a dumpster in Tempe?

No permit is needed on private property. Tempe has its own city government, so street or right-of-way placement needs a permit from the City of Tempe rather than Scottsdale or the county.

How far is Tempe from your yard, and is same-day realistic?

About 14 miles, mostly along Loop 101 and Loop 202. Same-day is usually still doable if you call earlier in the day.
