The Desert Ridge/Tatum corridor just west of our Airpark yard is genuinely close -- a few minutes down Loop 101 -- but it's worth being clear about a boundary that's easy to miss: this stretch sits in the City of Phoenix, not Scottsdale, even though it borders our own neighborhood. We deliver here often, and we route every permit question to Phoenix rather than Scottsdale.

Desert Ridge Marketplace and the retail and office development along Tatum Blvd and the 101 give this corridor a dense, newer-build feel similar to the Airpark just across the city line, with residential subdivisions spreading west from there. Because the jurisdiction changes at that line, we make sure any customer here knows it's Phoenix's right-of-way rules and Phoenix's solid-waste department that apply, not Scottsdale's.

On private property — a driveway, a courtyard, a job site — you will not normally need a permit anywhere in Maricopa County, and that covers the large majority of our North Phoenix (Desert Ridge) deliveries. What matters far more is whether the surface can take the weight and whether the truck can physically get in.

If the container has to sit on a public street or right-of-way in North Phoenix (Desert Ridge), that usually changes. • Extreme summer heat. Once daytime highs push past 110°F, we shift delivery and pickup windows to early morning both for our crews' safety and so the container isn't sitting in direct sun with a full asphalt driveway underneath it all afternoon. Let us know if your job has any flexibility on timing in July and August.
• Desert landscaping debris. Xeriscape teardowns and re-landscapes generate their own kind of load — decomposed granite, dead cactus and agave, pavers and edging — that is heavier and bulkier per yard than typical yard waste. Tell us what's coming out and we will size the container accordingly rather than guess.
• Gate codes and access. Several of North Phoenix (Desert Ridge)'s communities are gated or have guard-staffed entries. Have a code or a call-ahead arranged with the gatehouse so our driver isn't stuck waiting at the entrance on delivery day.
