Serving Old Town Scottsdale

Roll-off dumpsters delivered to Old Town Scottsdale

Old Town is Scottsdale's original downtown -- the walkable grid of Fifth Avenue galleries, Main Street's historic adobe storefronts, and the nightlife and restaurant strip around Scottsdale Rd and Camelback. It's a longer run south from our Airpark yard than most of our territory, but we handle residential, restaurant and retail cleanouts down here on a regular basis.

Old Town's mix of century-old adobe buildings, mid-century motor courts and newer high-density condo and retail infill means every job is a little different -- narrow alleys behind Main Street, tight loading zones behind restaurants, and small older residential lots on the grid's north side. We schedule drops around Old Town's event and nightlife traffic, which can back up fast on weekends and during festivals.

Local rules

Placement and permits in Old Town Scottsdale

On private property — a driveway, a courtyard, a job site — you will not normally need a permit anywhere in Maricopa County, and that covers the large majority of our Old Town Scottsdale deliveries. What matters far more is whether the surface can take the weight and whether the truck can physically get in.

If the container has to sit on a public street or right-of-way in Old Town Scottsdale, that usually changes. Check with City of Scottsdale -- Solid Waste & Right-of-Way before you book, and expect requirements around reflectors, barricades or overnight lighting. Maricopa County handles matters outside city and town limits. Rules genuinely differ from one municipality to the next around here, so please do not rely on what a neighbor in another town was told.

A few practical things that come up repeatedly in Old Town Scottsdale:

  • HOA and master-planned community rules. A lot of Old Town Scottsdale sits inside HOA-governed communities with their own container placement, screening and time-limit rules on top of whatever the town allows. Check your HOA's CC&Rs before booking, and tell us if the container needs to stay tucked out of street view — we can usually place tight to a garage or side yard.
  • Monsoon season (roughly June through September). Arizona's summer monsoon brings sudden thunderstorms, haboob dust storms and flash flooding, sometimes with very little warning. A container placed in a wash, a low spot or anywhere water pools can become a hazard fast. We watch the forecast and will reschedule placement around a storm cell rather than fight it.
  • Extreme summer heat. Once daytime highs push past 110°F, we shift delivery and pickup windows to early morning both for our crews' safety and so the container isn't sitting in direct sun with a full asphalt driveway underneath it all afternoon. Let us know if your job has any flexibility on timing in July and August.
  • Desert landscaping debris. Xeriscape teardowns and re-landscapes generate their own kind of load — decomposed granite, dead cactus and agave, pavers and edging — that is heavier and bulkier per yard than typical yard waste. Tell us what's coming out and we will size the container accordingly rather than guess.
  • Gate codes and access. Several of Old Town Scottsdale's communities are gated or have guard-staffed entries. Have a code or a call-ahead arranged with the gatehouse so our driver isn't stuck waiting at the entrance on delivery day.

Our permit and placement guide goes into more depth on placement rules across the Valley.

Answers

Dumpster rental in Old Town Scottsdale — common questions

Can you deliver a dumpster to a tight Old Town alley or loading zone?

In most cases, yes -- we work these blocks regularly and know which alleys and loading zones behind Main Street and Fifth Avenue can take a container. Tell us the exact address and we'll plan the drop.

Do you avoid Old Town's busy event weekends?

We schedule around them where we can. Let us know if your project is near the Main Street or Fifth Avenue event corridor and we'll aim delivery and pickup outside the heaviest weekend traffic.

Is a permit required for a dumpster in Old Town Scottsdale?

No permit is needed on private property. Old Town is inside Scottsdale city limits, so a container on the street or sidewalk needs a right-of-way permit from the City of Scottsdale.

What size fits a small Old Town condo or storefront cleanout?

A 10 or 15 yard usually handles a condo remodel or small storefront cleanout without crowding a tight lot. Tell us what's coming out and we'll confirm the size.
